Terms of use

What we promise each other.

Short version: use CarePair to organize care for someone you are responsible for, tell the truth in it, and we will keep it safe and free for you. The long version follows.

Effective September 14, 2026. Questions: hello@thecardinalgroup.org.

01The agreement

These terms are between you and The Cardinal Group, LLC, which operates CarePair and Cardinal Care Advisors. By creating an account or using trycarepair.com you agree to them. If you are using CarePair on behalf of a community, hospital, or care organization, a separate written agreement with that organization governs, and these terms fill in where it is silent.

02What CarePair is

CarePair is software for organizing care: a place to keep one profile for the person you are caring for, search senior living communities, send one application to several of them, message an advisor, keep a shared calendar, and store documents. Cardinal Care Advisors are people who help you use it and who work with communities on your behalf.

CarePair is free for families. Communities and care organizations pay for their side of the service under their own agreements.

03What CarePair is not

Please read this section twice.

  • Not medical advice. Care levels, the care guide, and search filters are ways to organize a search. A physician decides what care someone needs. Nothing in CarePair is a diagnosis.
  • Not legal or financial advice. Questions about Medicaid eligibility, powers of attorney, or estates belong with a lawyer or a certified planner. We can help you find one.
  • Not a licensed assessment. We never complete New York's PRI or SCREEN, or any clinical assessment. Those are done by licensed professionals.
  • Not a community or a care provider. We do not admit residents, provide care, or guarantee a bed. Communities decide whom they accept.
  • Not an emergency service. If someone is in danger, call 911.

04Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep it current. Decisions about care get made from it.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Turn on two-step sign-in if you can. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One person per account. Invite family to your care circle instead of sharing a login, so the record shows who did what.
  • You must be 18 or older.

05Sharing someone else's information

When you enter information about the person you are caring for, you are telling us that you are that person, or that you have their permission or the legal authority to act for them, and that sharing it with the communities and advisors you choose is something they would agree to. If that changes, tell us and we will stop.

Care circle members see what you let them see. You are responsible for who you invite and at what level.

06Communities, hospitals, and partners

If you use CarePair for a community or care organization, you also agree to the following:

  • Use what you receive only to make an admission or care decision for the person it is about. Do not forward it.
  • Answer applications within the response window. Silence counts against you in our reports to families.
  • Say only what your records support. If a bed is not available, say so. A waitlist is a maybe, not a yes.
  • Keep your contacts and admission rules current. We check every application against the rules you publish.
  • Fees, if any, are set in your written agreement with The Cardinal Group and are never charged for residents whose care is paid by a government program.

07Acceptable use

Do not use CarePair to:

  • Access information about a person you are not authorized to see, or try to.
  • Enter false information about a person, a community, or yourself.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone.
  • Scrape, copy, resell, or build a competing directory from what you see here.
  • Probe, overload, or interfere with the service. We rate-limit and we log.

08Your content and ours

What you enter and upload stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it to the people you chose, and send it where you asked, which is the whole point. CarePair itself, including its design, text, and code, belongs to The Cardinal Group. Community listings come from public state records and from the communities themselves; we correct errors when told about them but cannot promise every listing is current.

09Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and who can see it. It is part of these terms. If it and these terms ever conflict about your information, the Privacy Policy wins.

10Ending things

You can close your account at any time by asking us. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms another person, or puts the service at risk, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. Closing an account does not erase the audit record of what happened while it was open; that record exists to protect the people whose information was shared.

11No guarantees

We work hard to keep CarePair accurate and available, and we cannot promise it will always be either. The service is provided as it is. Communities make their own decisions. Placement, timing, cost, and outcomes are not guaranteed by us. To the extent the law allows, The Cardinal Group is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of CarePair, and our total liability to a family is limited to one hundred dollars, which reflects that families do not pay for it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

12Disputes and law

New York law governs these terms. If we have a disagreement, write to us first and we will try to sort it out within 30 days. If we cannot, the courts of Erie County, New York have jurisdiction, and each of us agrees to that.

13Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date at the top and, for anything material, tell you in the app at least 14 days before it applies. Using CarePair after that date means you accept the new terms.
